JAKARTA - Spotify has finally made its platform an e-commerce platform, by partnering with Shopify to allow artists to sell their merchandise on the streaming music application.

However, this feature is currently still in its early beta period, where Spotify listeners will only see Shopify merchandise in five countries namely the United States (US), Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

However, once this feature is officially launched, any artist globally will be able to link to their Shopify store if they have it. To set up their virtual merchandise store, Spotify artists must have a Shopify account.

According to Variety, Friday, October 22, they can now sell products like hats, t-shirts, vinyl, and more using Shopify on platforms where their listeners and fans reside.

By linking their Spotify for Artists account with their online store on Shopify, artists can sync their product catalog and feature featured products directly on their Spotify artist profile, making it easier for fans to browse and purchase items.

Shopify also gives entrepreneurial artists access to a complete commerce platform where they can manage their own brand on the world's most popular music streaming service.

Not only that, but Shopify also provides management features for Spotify artists such as items that are out of stock will automatically be removed from the profile, while new products can be added directly to Spotify.

But of course, it's not free, artists will be charged Shopify pricing plans ranging from USD 29 per month for the basic e-commerce plan to USD 299 per month for the advanced tier which includes account performance reports. Shopify offers a 90-day free trial for all newly signed up Spotify artists.
