JAKARTA - DoorDash and Wing announced the launch of their drone delivery partnership in the US, starting in Christiansburg, Virginia. Where selected consumers can order menus at Wendy's and will be delivered using drones.

"We are excited to expand our partnership with Wing in the US to integrate drone deliveries into the DoorDash ecosystem," said Harrison Shih, Senior Director of DoorDash Labs in its official announcement, quoted Friday, March 22.

With this drone delivery innovation, DoorDash demonstrates its commitment to advancing long-distance logistics by building a multimodal delivery platform that serves all sides.

The launch of drone shipments in the US is a follow-up to a pilot drone delivery program launched by DoorDash and Wing in Australia in 2022, and then expanded to three locations in Queensland with more than 60 traders.

"Expanding our partnership with DoorDash and launching it in the US is a direct result of the success we saw from our early collaboration in Australia, where Wing has served tens of thousands of customers through the DoorDash app for more than a year," said Cosimo Leipold, Head of Partnership, at Wing.

To date, Wing has made more than 350,000 shipments in three countries, and in the future the company admits it will focus on providing fast, affordable and secure services for partners.

So starting today, after customers choose to deliver drones and make bookings, orders will be prepared and packaged at Wendy's location and delivered via Wing drone, which will generally take 30 minutes or less.

The trial will initially be available in Christiansburg and plans to explore other cities in America by the end of this year.
