Dolby Vision And Atmos Features Disappear From Amazon Prime Video Subscription Packages

JAKARTA Amazon confirmed that they had removed the Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos features from Amazon's Prime Video subscription packages, movie and serial streaming services.

The loss of these two features is very unfortunate. The reason is, Dolby Vision can produce better colors and contrasts, while Dolby Atmos is able to create more realistic voices. The loss of these two features can certainly be felt by users.

Although these two features have been removed from the subscription package, users can still get Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support by using the ad-free option. This means that users must spend additional costs.

Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos' ability is only available on ad-free options, on relevant titles, Amazon spokeswoman Katie Barker told The Verge. This ad-free option is priced at 2.99 US dollars (IDR 46 thousand) per month.

Overall, Amazon has two subscription packages. There is a Mandiri Prime Video package for 8.99 US dollars (Rp140 thousand) and a Prime subscription of 14.99 US dollars (Rp233 thousand). These two prices do not include ad-free options.

Some users may object to the ad-free provisions that have been separated since January 29. The two packages Amazon offers are already quite expensive so some users may prefer to see ads rather than pay more.

However, Prime Video's base package price is still better than Disney Plus's 9.99 US dollars (Rp155,000) ad package. Meanwhile, Prime Video packages are still more expensive when compared to Netflix ad packages of US$6.99 (Rp108 thousand).

In fact, the ad-free option and the support of two features from Dolby is one way for Amazon to increase its broadcast on Prime Video. The company had said it wanted to invest in more interesting content.
