JAKARTA - Google announced funding of 25 million euros or around IDR 421.3 billion from Google.org to support training and artificial intelligence (AI) skills of people in Europe.
"We are committed to playing our part" in collaboration with the EU Government, civil society, academics, and the business world to find the right path so that this technology can be used safely and for everyone, "said Matt Brittin, President, Google in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in its announcement on Monday, February 12.
The tech giant said it had opened applications for social companies and non-profit organizations that could help and reach those most likely to benefit from training.
"Cooperating with governments and local communities, we will provide a series of basic and advanced AI training to support vulnerable communities, startups, and everyone else," added Brittin.
In addition, to support companies that use AI to scale up their companies, Google has expanded free AI training courses to 18 languages.
"Research shows that the benefits of AI can exacerbate existing inequalities, especially in terms of economic security and work," said Adrian Brown, Executive Director of the Center for Public Impact, which runs a nonprofit scheme with Google.
