JAKARTA - During the celebration of Christmas and New Year, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) managed to record the highest daily data traffic increase of 8.9 percent compared to the average normal day.

Supported by 172 thousand 4G BTS across the country, Indosat recorded an increase in data traffic of 8.4 percent on December 24, 2023, and rose again to 8.9 percent on December 31, 2023.

The report also saw several areas with significant traffic increases on the island of Java, such as Bandung, Banjarnegara, Bogor, Karawang, Kediri, Madiun, Malang, Purwakarta, Purwokerto, Tangerang, Tasikmalaya, and Tegal.

Meanwhile, outside Java, the cities of Balikpapan, Bandar Lampung, Bali, Bone, Gowa, Kotabumi, Medan, Metro, Pare-Pare, Pontianak, and Samarinda, are also cities with the highest data traffic spikes.

Desmond Cheung, Director & Chief Technology Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison said that Indosat's success in meeting Indonesia's high digital needs is in line with efforts to become the most chosen digital telecommunications company in Indonesia.

Digital platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok also contributed greatly to the soaring consumption of Indosat customer data.

The same thing was also found on digital platforms Indosat, myIM3 and Bima+, where there was an increase in user activity by almost 1 million customers compared to normal days. This was triggered by the purchase of service packages and also access to on-demand services.

In fulfilling the surge in data traffic, Indosat has also proactively increased network connectivity by optimizing 434 priority locations and increasing capacity at 527 points.

"Indosat's efforts to maintain network performance and provide digital telecommunications services throughout the special moments of the 2023 Christmas and 2024 new year celebrations prove our commitment to continue to connect and empower the Indonesian people," concluded Desmond.
