JAKARTA - Google is introducing a new update on Google Maps, which will give you greater control over your personal information regarding your trip.

Maps Timeline Update

First, Google introduced an update to the Timeline feature in Maps, which will help you remember the places you've visited in a setting called Location History.

Since this Location History setting is disabled by default, for those of you who choose to enable Location History, your travel timeline will be saved directly on the device.

In addition, when you first activate Location History, the automatic delete control will be tuned by default to three months (previously 18 months), meaning any data that is longer than that will be automatically deleted.

However, you can still choose to extend that time period or disable automatic delete control.

These changes will be rolled out in stages until next year on Android and iOS, and you will receive notifications when these updates log into your account.

Remove certain activities directly from Maps

When you go somewhere, you will be able to see all the latest activities on Maps. Now, you can easily delete searches, directions, visits, and share with just a few taps.

The ability to remove venue-related activity from Maps will begin rolling out on Android and iOS in the coming weeks.
