The Indonesian Vs Australia National Team In The Last 16 Of The 2023 Asian Cup, Sure Can Draw Opponents

The Indonesian national team is ready to face Australia in the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI, Erick Thohir, is optimistic about the efforts of the Indonesian national team which will continue their struggle in the round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup. The chairman of PSSI believes that the Garuda Squad can match Australia's game.

The Indonesian national team is certain to lock the ticket to the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup after finishing fourth in the best third place.

The Garuda squad is the only team to pack three points. The gain was obtained from winning once against Vietnam and losing twice against Iraq and Japan.

Even though they only pack once, the chairman of PSSI believes that when facing Australia, Shin Tae-yong's team will be able to match the opponent.

He made the match against Japan a parameter for the strength of the Garuda Squad. Despite losing, the team's fighting power can be taken into account. In addition, in terms of Japanese perfoma, it is superior to Australia.

"Maybe in a match (against Australia), we (Indonesian national team) can balance each other," said Erick Thohir when met at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Senayan, Friday, January 26, 2024, WB night.

"If (against) Japan yesterday, we could see their outstanding playing system, discipline in all lines. There are also differences in terms of appearance," he said.

The chairman of PSSI did not turn a blind eye to Australia's rating which was indeed superior to the Indonesian national team.

Even so, optimism was still expressed by the chairman of PSSI because he saw the material of the Garuda Squad which was no less good with several names competing in Europe.

"I don't think Australia is a team that doesn't count, the ranking is also far (from the national team), but the game is different from Japan and South Korea."

"We are also now many players who have competed in the Premier League or in the Dutch League," he said.

After making sure to qualify for the round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup, the Indonesian national team has been waiting for a tough match.

Shin Tae-yong's team must face Australia, who is the winner of Group B. This match will take place at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 18.30 WIB.
