JAKARTA - The Singapore Football Federation (FAS) confirmed the agreement to cooperate with PSSI in the 2025 edition of the 2025 World Cup host bidding.

"FAS has signed a letter of intent to discuss and consider hosting the upcoming edition of the U-20 World Cup or U-17 with the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) starting in 2025 and beyond," FAS wrote in an official statement quoted on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

Furthermore, FAS has also stated that the application letter signed with Indonesia has been sent to FIFA. Even so, FAS said that the letter of intent was still an assessment.

This letter of Intent has been submitted to FIFA. This Letter of Intent is still an assessment at this stage and the offer, if anything needs to be developed further with FIFA, PSSI, and to reach consensus with institutions in Singapore," wrote FAS.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had indeed revealed plans for Indonesia and Singapore to co-host in the U-20 World Cup bidding and the U-17 World Cup starting in the 2025 edition.

The plan emerged in line with Indonesia's success which was stated by FIFA to have won the 2023 U-17 World Cup on November 10-2 December 2023.

"I am sure that Indonesia and Singapore will be able to be good hosts for the two tournaments that I said earlier, namely U-17 and U-20," Jokowi said on a different occasion.
