Spectators Chanted 'Messi' Mocking Cristiano Ronaldo When He Was Defeated by Al Hilal, Al Nassr Coach Defends

Cristiano Ronaldo received ridicule from Al Hilal (Instagram/@alnassr) supporters.

JAKARTA - Al Nassr received a crushing 0-3 defeat from Al Hilal in Week 15 of the 2023/2024 Saudi Arabian Pro League, Saturday, December 2, 2023. Cristiano Ronaldo was booed by the home fans.

The match at Al Hilal's home ground, King Fahd Stadium, was a bad day for Ronaldo. He failed to bring the team to gain points in this match entitled the Riyadh Derby.

Just when he was warming up, Ronaldo immediately came under pressure from the home fans. The Portuguese star was heard mockingly shouting, "Messi, Messi, Messi!"

This mockery made Al Nassr's coach, Luis Castro, not accept it. He defended the star with scathing sarcasm.

“Cristiano is an example for everyone, an example that Al Nassr is lucky to have. He is an example of precision, ambition, and discipline," Luis Castro said on ESPN.

"Many people want to be like Cristiano Ronaldo, but only a few want to work like Cristiano Ronaldo. If you want something, you have to give everything to get it."

Castro further appreciated Ronaldo's hard work in the match against Al Hilal, even though he failed to bring home any points.

The Al Hilal vs Al Nassar match belongs to the host. The three goals scored were contributed by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (64') and Aleksandar Mitrovic's brace (89', 90+2').

An additional three points kept Al Hilal away from Al Nassr's pursuit. They are firmly at the top of the standings with 41 points.

Meanwhile, Al Nassr is still in second place with 34 points or a difference of 17 points from its rival.
