Roberto Firmino Has Left Liverpool, Darwin Nunez Returns To Favorite Number

JAKARTA - Liverpool player, Darwin Nunez, returned to his favorite number, namely 9. Previously, the number was used by Roberto Firmino, who has now moved to the Saudi Arabian League.

The number 9 jersey is very familiar for the Uruguayan national team striker because he wore it during his brilliant performance with Benfica.

At that time, he managed to score 48 goals and 16 assists from 85 appearances with the club nicknamed As Aguias.

Nunez expressed her joy after changing her back number from 27 to 9.

"I am very happy to wear number nine. And I am also very proud," Nunez said, quoted from Liverpool's official website via Antara.

"To be honest, previously other players represented this number very well and now it's my turn to wear it," Nunez continued.

Brought in by the Reds in 2022/2023, Nunez chose to wear the number 27 jersey, the number previously worn by Divock Origi, which in that season moved to AC Milan.

During his use of the jersey number, the 24-year-old footballer has 15 goals and four assists of 44 appearances throughout the competition.

Furthermore, the footballer who was born on June 24, 1999, hopes to continue the slick trail of owner number 9 at Liverpool in previous years such as Firmino, Robbie Fowler, to Ian Rush.
