Dino Jelusick Alami Culture Shock When He First Visited Indonesia

JAKARTA - Croatian singer Dino Jelusick appeared in Indonesia when he was part of the Dewa 19 featuring All Star which held a concert at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on August 12, 2023.

Behind his viral appearance for singing the song Arjuna, Dino admitted that he experienced a culture shock or cultural commotion upon arrival in Indonesia. The Jelusick vocalist was shocked after learning that the Indonesian people really like to create content and upload it to social media or other digital platforms.

Indonesia is very different from here (Croasia). I think content creation there is a little out of control. It looks like you posted five videos in a day just to have content," said Dino Jelusick during a virtual press conference on Monday, January 15.

For the content in question, Dino said that Indonesians prioritize quantity over quality.

"Instead of quality exceeding quantity, you (prefer) quantities to exceed quality. That's what distinguishes Indonesia from other places," he said.

Then, Dino told how he saw himself appearing in a video uploaded on YouTube. Without realizing it, he said someone had recorded him while on an airplane to Indonesia.

When I worked with Dewa, I opened YouTube and I saw myself on YouTube sleeping on the plane. Only two hours later (the plane landed in Indonesia). And I'm thinking who recorded this," said Dino Jelusick.

"So, I decided to stay at the hotel, because I think everything was recorded, and too many people know me," he continued.

However, Dino Jelusick acknowledged the hospitality of the Indonesian people. He said the welcome and services felt in the country were perfect.

"But you guys are very friendly, very cool, very energetic. You are very humble, and the service in Indonesia is very perfect," concluded Dino Jelusick.
