Kawasaki Considers Local Electric Motorcycle Rakit, Interested In Government Subsidy Policy?

JAKARTA - Kawasaki has plans to conduct local assembly of its newest electric motor, which just launched last week, namely Ninja e-1 and Z e-1. However, this plan will depend heavily on market responses.

Michael C Tanadhi, Head of Sales & Promotion of PT Kawasaki Motor Indonesia, stated that currently these motorbikes are still in Complete Built Up (CBU) status from Thailand.

"Later we will see how the market responds, if it responds well, it is possible for local assembly to be carried out," he said when contacted by VOI, Thursday, November 23.

In opening up opportunities for local builds, the question arises whether Kawasaki plans to obtain subsidies for these electric motors and meets the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) standards.

"We will continue to monitor government subsidies policies. If subsidies can be adopted with our products, then we will welcome them well," he replied.

As previously reported, Kawasaki Ninja e-1 is valued at around Rp. 149.9 million, while Z e-1 has a price of around Rp. 146.9 million. Each purchase includes a motorbike, charging dock, and adapter.

Kawasaki also provides battery guarantees for 1 year, and battery resistance is claimed to reach 5 years for this electric motor that has a sport-like design.

This electric motorbike is scheduled to start distributing in March 2024. For potential buyers, it is hoped that they will be patient until that time.
