Good News From The Ministry Of PUPR, Islamic Boarding Schools Receive Rp542.6 Billion Of Funds For Cash-Intensive Programs

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in 2021 will expand the distribution of Cash for Work (PKT) or cash for work programs through the Provision of Sanitation Facilities and Infrastructure at Islamic Boarding Schools/Religious Education Institutions (LPK). Based on the e-monitoring system of the Ministry of PUPR, the status of funds disbursed was Rp542.6 billion as of August 21.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the amount was equivalent to 51.9 percent of the target of Rp978.1 billion. The absorbed budget is used for labor and material wages, so it will continue to grow over time.

Basuki said the PUPR Ministry's PKT program was implemented through infrastructure development that involved the community/local residents as development actors, especially small-scale infrastructure or simple jobs that did not require technology.

Furthermore, he said that in addition to creating a safe, comfortable, clean, and healthy learning environment, the Program for the Provision of Sanitation Facilities and Infrastructure for Islamic Boarding Schools/LPKs also aims to maintain people's purchasing power in the midst of uncertain economic conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. the benefits can directly contribute to the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program.

"In addition to accelerating economic recovery and increasing people's purchasing power, the PKT also aims to distribute funds to villages/remote areas. The pattern of implementing the PKT will also have to pay attention to physical & social distancing protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19," he said in an official statement, quoted on Monday. , August 23.

Absorb 34 thousand workers

Basuki said that the construction of sanitation facilities and infrastructure for Islamic Boarding Schools/LPK in FY 2021 is targeted at 6,000 units spread over 4,825 locations in Indonesia. Currently, it has been distributed in 2,582 locations with the achievement of absorbing 34,576 workers from the planned 35,944 workers. Overall physical progress has reached 31.6 percent

"The Program for the Provision of Sanitation Facilities and Infrastructure for Islamic Boarding Schools/LPK includes the construction of MCK buildings consisting of shower cubicles and latrines/toilets, ablution places, hand washing facilities, and clothes washing facilities as well as domestic wastewater treatment plants with a budget allocation for each unit of around Rp200 million," he said.

In addition to the sanitation of Islamic boarding schools/LPKs, there are six other PKT activities carried out by the Ministry of PUPR through the Directorate General of Human Settlements with a total absorbing of 268,859 workers. These activities include Cities Without Slums (KOTAKU) as many as 124,140 workers, and Regional Socio-Economic Infrastructure Development (PISEW) absorbing 17,964 people.
