PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 3 recorded that the number of travelers using ships departing or arriving via Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya was 65,530 people.

General Manager of Kalimas and Gapura Terminal Surya Nusantara Dhany Rachmad Agustian explained that the number was recorded from D-15 Eid al-Fitr on March 24, 2024 to D-8 dated April 3, 2024.

"The peak of the homecoming flow through the Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya occurred on April 3, 2024 because there were 12 passenger ships from various areas that docked," he said, quoted from Antara, Thursday, April 4.

Of the 12 ships that docked at Tanjung Perak Port on April 3, Pelindo Regional 3 recorded a total of 12,900 passengers who fell.

Meanwhile, on weekdays, the average Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya is one to two passenger ships. The number of passengers who ride or descend is usually not more than a thousand people.

While entering the service of homecoming flow which has been set since D-15 or March 24, 2024, the average passengers of ships that ride or descend through Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, are around 3,000 people.

According to data from Pelindo Regional 3, during the period of homecoming flow in 2023, from D-15 to D+15 Lebaran, the total number of travelers who went up or down using ship transportation through Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya was recorded as 209,046 passengers.

Dhany predicts that the number of passengers on the Eid homecoming flow in 2024 will increase to 20 percent or more.

"We are optimistic that the increase in passengers in the homecoming flow this year will reach 20 percent," he said.

Dhany explained one of his considerations because the price of sea transportation is still very affordable.

"In addition, passenger luggage, which is around 40 kilograms per person, is still quite high in terms of volume when compared to other modes of transportation," he said.
