PT PLN (Persero) noted that the national electrification ratio (RE) had reached 99.79 percent as of December 2023, with 81,556,202 households electrifying nationally. "We carry out the public service obligation (PSO) function by providing equal access to electricity to all corners of the archipelago. The achievement of the national electrification ratio as of December 2023 is 99.79 percent," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo during a Hearing Meeting with Commission VI DPR RI, in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, April 3. Darmawan detailed, in 2023 there will be an increase in electricity connection to 3.2 million household customers. So the national RE in 2023 increased by 4.1 percent when compared to the national RE in the previous year which reached 99.63 percent. "In total (not only households), the addition of electricity connection is 3.5 million in 2023, including for business and industry," he said. The national electricity village ratio (RDB) as of December 2023 was reached at 99.85 percent. This figure increased by 0.06 percent compared to the national electricity village ratio in December 2022 which reached 99.79 percent. Darmawan said PLN continues to strive and strive to electrify all remote areas in encouraging increased and equitable access to electricity. Therefore, PLN has created a mapping or roadmap for village electricity (lisdes) from 2022 to 2027. Darmawan added that the planning system was made using digital mapping, with PLN identifying villages that were not yet electrified in all regions in Indonesia. "And we also map the existing infrastructure that PLN already has and develop the most optimal and efficient strategy to expand the existing electricity infrastructure to electrify these remote villages," he also said. Darmawan said, the lisdes roadmap for 2022-2027 is a very optimal and efficient planning with a high level of precision. All of these plans were also made in order to carry out the mandate of the fifth precept of Pancasila, namely social justice for all Indonesian people.
"We also need to convey that in the process of electrifying remote villages, a very friendly and harmonious atmosphere was created, our arrival was warmly welcomed (by the local community)," said Darmawan. Meanwhile, in terms of power reserves (reserve margins), Darmawan ensured that the current electricity system was much stronger. As of December 2023, the national margin reserve was above the level of 30 percent. The current condition is better than in 2015 with a margin reserve outside Java-Bali at that time, many were on alert status, even a deficit. "This is a sweet fruit from the development of electricity infrastructure expansion, both from power generation, transmission, and distribution, so that the national electricity system in 2024 is much stronger than the electricity system in 2015," said Darmawan.
