JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki asked MSME players to develop the automotive component industry, one of which is aftermarket exhaust SMEs which have enormous economic potential.

Because, Teten admitted that he was annoyed because many MSME players had not yet been able to enter the industrialization stage and only focused on selling chips to fried foods.

He expressed this in the agenda of the Aftermarket Demo Day agenda at the Smesco Building, Jakarta, Monday, March 25.

"We haven't been able to build the car yet, but we can make spare parts. It's already great so we don't continue to make chips. So that MSMEs don't keep making woven, fried. Not like that, we have started to enter industrialization," said Teten.

Although Indonesia has not been able to produce national cars, with the contribution of MSMEs that produce one of its components such as this exhaust, it is hoped that Indonesia can enter the industrialization process as mandated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Everyone must be committed to developing the aftermarket exhaust industry," he said.

Teten assessed that the exhaust automotive creative industry has considerable potential and value. This is because it involves 300,000 manufacturers to large employment.

"If we can supply only 10 percent of the world's automotive industry through this exhaust product, the contribution will definitely be very large," he said.

In addition, said Teten, Indonesia has jobs problems in terms of industry. Meanwhile, at the same time, the government still has difficulty providing adequate employment opportunities. So, it must be supported by the use of local products through the domestic industry.

"Well, if we look at the stages of industrial countries, starting with making components first, spare parts first. We have to develop this. So together we have to support it," he said.
