JAKARTA - Chairman of the IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force of the Ministry of PUPR Danis Sumadilaga said his ministry was trying to get workers involved in the development of the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) to receive incentives.
According to Danis, incentives are crucial because workers at IKN are required to work continuously in order to maintain the smooth running and completion of the construction of the new nation's capital, even though there is fasting and Eid al-Fitr 2024.
"Yes, please (give incentives), so that the continuity of the work, we try to get the workers incentives to continue working. This is in the process," Danis told reporters after attending the IKN National Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, March 15.
Danis explained that giving holiday allowances (THR) to construction workers at IKN is not an obligation of the government. This is because workers' work relationships generally have business to business relationships with contractors or companies involved in development projects.
Therefore, THR obligations are the responsibility of contractors or companies, in accordance with applicable labor regulations.
"We urge you to keep your work going. Don't let fasting or Eid (work) get disturbed. How can it be up to them," said Danis.
Based on data from the Ministry of PUPR in October 2023, the number of workers for the construction of the IKN construction project reached 12,123 workers.
A total of 2,765 of them came from the island of Kalimantan, while 9,345 other construction workers came from outside Kalimantan Island.
