JAKARTA - The Denpasar City Government, Bali, in collaboration with Perum Bulog to distribute one ton of rice for the Supply Stabilization and Food Price Program (SPHP) for every time the implementation of the cheap market ahead of Nyepi Holy Day in the city.

Assistant for Development and Economy of Denpasar City Secretariat Anak Agung Gede Risnawan in Denpasar, Wednesday, March 6, said that the implementation of the cheap market ahead of Nyepi and the month of Ramadan is expected to help people get food at affordable prices.

"The cheap market activities will continue and be carried out eight times until next April," said Risnawan while monitoring the implementation of the cheap market in Banjar Abian Kapas Klod, Denpasar, as reported by Antara.

One ton of SPHP rice available in the cheap market is sold at a price of IDR 52 thousand per bag / package with a size of 5 kilograms.

According to Risnawan, specifically regarding the availability of rice, it has indeed become a concern of the Denpasar City Government because it is a crucial issue.

"Before the implementation of this cheap market, the Denpasar City Government and the Denpasar Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) together with the Food Task Force have also gone to Bulog and distributors to see the food stock supply in Bulog Warehouse," he said.

Risnawan said rice stocks in Bulog Warehouse in the Sempidi area, Badung Regency, are available as many as 1,500 tons which are predicted to be sufficient to meet the needs of the people of Denpasar for the next three months.

"We will follow up again, later at the end of April it will go down again so that the problem of rice which is crucial becomes safe in Bali in general and Denpasar in particular," he said again.

Risnawan added that the Denpasar City Government together with the Food Task Force also routinely monitor the prices of basic commodities in five traditional markets in Denpasar City, namely Badung Market, Kreneng Market, Agung Market, Pulakerti Market, and Nanggelan Market.

"Hopefully, the controlled food prices in traditional markets can overcome the inflation problem. Astungkara (at God's permission) inflation in Denpasar City is still safe even under national inflation," he said.

Citing data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali Province, in February 2024 year on year (y-on-y), Bali Province experienced inflation of 2.98 percent. Denpasar City with 2.72 percent inflation recorded the lowest inflation in Bali Province.

"Perumda Pasar Langkadharma also received an assignment to hold a rice-specific cheap market at Badung Market for several days before Nyepi Holy Day," said Risnawan.

In the implementation of the cheap market in Banjar Abian, Klod Prison, Denpasar City, it appears that residents are scrambling to buy SPHP rice, so that in an instant, the rice prepared by Bulog was sold out.

On that occasion, Bulog also provided 100 kilograms of sugar with a price of Rp. 17 thousand per kilogram, 120 liters of oil per liter with a price of Rp. 16 thousand per liter.

In addition, the cheap market also sells premium Pertiwi rice at a price of Rp. 83 thousand (5 kg) and Rp. 165 thousand (10 kg in size), Minya Kita 1 liter bottle (Rp. 15 thousand), 3 kilograms of LPG for Rp. 18 thousand per tube.

To welcome Nyepi Holy Day which falls on March 11, 2024, the cheap market also sells fruits, shallots, garlic, eggs, processed meat and shares the type of cake.
