BPS Calls The Agricultural Sector Contributing 44.19 Percent To The West Sulawesi Economy

Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Sulawesi Province, Tina Wahyufitri, said the agricultural sector contributed 44.19 percent of the 5.25 percent economic growth in West Sulawesi Province (Sulbar).

"The West Sulawesi Province's economic growth of 5.25 percent is in seventh position out of 14 provinces in the Sulawesi Maluku area of Papua (Sulampua) in 2023, and the agricultural sector contributed 44.19 percent," said Tina Wahyufitri, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, February 8.

He said the highest economic growth in the Sulampua region occurred in North Maluku Province with economic growth of 20.49 percent, followed by Central Sulawesi Province which reached 11.91 percent growth.

In West Sulawesi, the agricultural sector contributed 44.19 percent. The plantation sub-sector is the largest contributor to the West Sulawesi agricultural sector, which is 20.55 percent.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Research and Innovation Development Planning Agency (Bapperida) of West Sulawesi Province, Junda Maulana, said that the increase in West Sulawesi's economic growth occurred in most components of the business field category.

According to him, the Provincial Government of West Sulawesi will continue to strive to improve the West Sulawesi economy this year by implementing a program that directly touches the interests of community economic development.
