KCI Ensures KRL From China The Train Specification Is Right With Indonesia's Needs

JAKARTA - PT KAI Commuter or KCI stated that in deciding to import new KRL from China, several things were considered. One of them is that the specifications of the offered train are very suitable for the needs in Indonesia.

For your information, KCI has signed a three-series import contract or new KRL trainset from a Chinese company, CRRC Sifang Co Ltd on January 31, 2024 in Beijing, China. The investment value reached IDR 783 billion.

KCI Corporate Secretary Anne Purba explained that KRL procurement offers came from a number of countries, not only China, but also from Japanese companies, J-TREC and companies from South Korea (South Korea) Wojin and Dawonsys.

However, Anne said, with various considerations KCI chose to import a new KRL from China. One of the considerations is the technical specifications closest to the standard in Indonesia.

There are technical specifications that are very close to CRRC, because he is indeed producing according to our needs. As for those from Korea, the majority of them still use aluminum, while we are already stainless steel," explained Anne at a press conference, at the KCI office, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 6.

In addition, Anne said other specifications that were also considered were free space in train carriages, infrastructure, rail size, to the quality of air conditioning.

"For example, AC, AC for technical capacity in Singapore, Malaysia, China, Japan, is different. And this is what they adjust their conditions to Indonesia," he said.

Furthermore, Anne also emphasized that the various specifications could be met by the Chinese train manufacturer.

"Those are things that we have to make sure because the KRL infrastructure, for example with LRT, is different, the width of the rail is different," he said.

In addition to specifications, continued Anne, CRRC Sifang can also meet the requirements for delivery or time delivery submitted by the Indonesian side.

Anne said time delivery is an important point in fulfilling the KRL facilities, especially in Jabodetabek, where KCI must ensure the availability of facilities because the train rejuvenation process is also being carried out.

Furthermore, Anne also said that CRRC Sifang has experience in producing commuter trains and high-speed trains for 28 countries.

"So that when we received all the proposals, CRRC was indeed the most competitive. And they also collaborated with 28 countries in the procurement of train facilities, either commuter or high speed train in several countries, including Europe and Asia," said Anne.
