JAKARTA - A South Korean company engaged in the food and beverage industry, medicines, and herbal products, Korea Tomorrow & Global (KT&G) distributed scholarships to support the development of competent and global competitive industrial human resources (HR) in Indonesia.

The KT&G Scholarship Foundation cooperates with the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) to allocate funds to facilitate outstanding and underprivileged students at the Ministry of Industry's Polytechnic and Community Academy (Akom).

"KT&G is determined to encourage the development of our competent industrial human resources by allocating CSR funds of IDR 499,650,000 to help students on the Ministry of Industry's environmental campus," said Head of the Ministry of Industry's Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI), Masrokhan in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, January 26.

Masrokhan said there were 134 scholarship recipients for study fees from the South Korean company.

"We welcome and appreciate KT&G for being committed to allocating the funds," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the BPSDMI Administrative HR Development, Education and Training Center at the Ministry of Industry, Restu Yuni Widayati, said that scholarship recipients from KT&G could make the best and full of responsibility for the program.

Restu said that the implementation of industrial vocational education within the Ministry of Industry has now become a reference for the development of vocational education nationally.

"Not only because of his specialist study program, it is also due to a strong link and match with the industrial business world. So, all graduates can be absorbed in the industry in less than a year," he said.

The construction of competent and competitive industrial human resources was carried out through education and vocational training in 29 educational and training work units under the Ministry of Industry's BPSDMI, consisting of nine (9) vocational schools, 13 Polytechnics and Community Academys and seven (7) Industrial Education and Training Centers spread across various provinces of Indonesia.

As for 2023, education units within the Ministry of Industry have scored 5,673 graduates, with details of 87.34 percent of the 2,163 SMK graduates and 74.04 percent of the 3,510 Polytechnic and Akom graduates who have been absorbed in the world of work when graduating.

For other graduates, they are still in the recruitment process for a maximum waiting period of six months.

"We hope that this scholarship will be sustainable in the coming years and the coverage can be expanded not only for Polytechnic or AKom students, but also for students at the Vocational High School level," he concluded.
