Towards The End Of The Year, The State Budget Is Still Experiencing A Deficit Of IDR 35 Trillion Until December 12, 2023

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati conveyed that the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) until December 12, 2023 recorded a deficit of IDR 35 trillion or 0.17 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).

Sri Mulyani said that the deficit until December 12, 2023 was much smaller when compared to the initial design of the APBN which was targeted to reach IDR 598.2 trillion or 2.84 percent and was still below the Presidential Decree No. 75 of 2023 which reached IDR 479.9 trillion.

"Our state budget until December 12, 2023, still recorded a deficit of Rp35 trillion, much smaller than the initial deficit design of Rp598.2 trillion," said Sri Mulyani, in a press conference. Our state budget, Friday 15 December.

State revenue until December 12, 2023 collected amounting to Rp2,553 trillion or reaching 103.66 percent of the 2023 budget year APBN target of Rp2,463 trillion.

Meanwhile, the target of Presidential Regulation 75/2023 is 96.8 percent and is estimated to reach the target of Presidential Regulation 75/2023 of IDR 2,637 trillion by the end of 2023.

Sri Mulyani explained that this APBN deficit came from state spending which was higher than state revenues.

Meanwhile, the realization of state spending until December 12, 2023, reached IDR 2,588 trillion or 84.55 percent of the ceiling set by the APBN of IDR 3,061 trillion and 83.03 percent of the Presidential Regulation target of 75/2023 of IDR 3,117 trillion.

Sri Mulyani explained that the nominal number of state revenues and expenditures is almost the same, but this state expenditure is only 84.55 percent of the total budget ceiling in the APBN Law.

Although the State Budget until December 12, 2023 recorded a deficit, in terms of primary balance, it still experienced a surplus of IDR 378.6 trillion.

"This is still a positive thing," he said.
