JAKARTA - The Jabodebeka Integrated Highway (LRT) will officially start operating on August 18, 2023.

The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, confirmed that the LRT after operating will carry 500,000 passengers every day.

"The Jabodebek LRT will carry 500,000 passengers per day," he said at Halim's LRT Station, Wednesday, June 28.

With the addition of this number of carriers, the LRT and KRT will carry as many as 1.7 million passengers per day.

In this trial, Budi revealed that the distance from Dukuh Atas Station to Jati Mulya only took 39 minutes and managed to cut a third of the distance from Jakarta Bekasi when passing the toll road.

"Ongkos that must be paid by all levels of society is very high when using private vehicles. Here it becomes fast, free of traffic jams and not pollution," explained Budi.

Then, he said, the LRT will also start conducting trials for the general public from July 12 to August 18 at a rate of IDR 1 per passenger.

"God willing, on July 12, we will start testing IDR 1 to August 18, which we hope the president can inaugurate," added Budi.

To note, the Jabodebek LRT Project is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) in accordance with the Permenko for Economic Affairs Number 21 of 2022 which has 18 station points for dismissal at 3 service routes, namely Cawang-Bekasi, Cawang-Cibubur, and Cawang-Dukuh Atas.

The Jabodebek LRT is expected to be an alternative mode of transportation for passengers connecting Bekasi City, Depok City and DKI Jakarta.

The Jabodebek LRT service is scheduled to carry out a limited operation on July 12, 2023 until the inauguration of August 18, 2023, to coincide with the 78th commemoration of Indonesia's independence.
