Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo reviewed the availability of sacrificial animals, especially cows ahead of the celebration of Eid al-Adha 2023 in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi.

The Minister of Agriculture who is familiarly called SYL ensures that the stock of sacrificial animals is safe and even in a surplus in a healthy condition or free from disease based on data and supervision in the field.

For him, directly reviewing the availability of cows according to food needs has become his task. Especially at important moments the need to increase, such as Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Christmas to New Year.

"Alhamdulillah, we have always passed it dynamically, but the availability is always sufficient and safe," said SYL after reviewing Daeng Saleng's livestock, CV Ihwana Putri Pradana, Gowa, South Sulawesi.

The national availability of sacrificial animals in 2023 is 3.2 million. The need for sacrificial animals this year for each commodity is 650,282 cows, 16,327 buffalo, 743,672 goats, and 332,770 sheep.

"All over Indonesia we prepare 3.2 million sacrificial animals, and from the detection and reports that there are all the track, availability in monitoring," said SYL.

He said the Ministry of Agriculture through the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (PKH) ensured that the implementation of the sacrifice was in accordance with the established SOP. In fact, the Ministry of Agriculture has formed a task force to oversee the availability of sacrificial animals.

"Mr. Director General of Animal Husbandry has created a task force to monitor the availability to the health of sacrificial animals from the center, province to district," said SYL.

Furthermore, the Minister of Agriculture invited the Governor, the Regent also ensured the health of sacrificial animals in their respective areas so that Eid al-Adha could be carried out without obstacles and in good condition.

"One of the things we check, what can be traded is that animals that already have eartags mean they have been vaccinated and cannot be cut if they are under 28 days," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Nasrullah said the sacrificial animal monitoring team had been deployed in the field, including in the regions.

"We need caution in monitoring sacrificial animals in the field," said Nasrullah.

The availability of sacrificial animals in South Sulawesi 2023 includes 75,289 cows, 2,406 buffalo, 33,279 goats with a projected need for sacrificial animals in South Sulawesi in 2023, namely 46,243 cows, 96 buffalo, 6,060 goats.
