JAKARTA - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Refinery Unit III Plaju (Pertamina Plaju Refinery) Palembang, South Sumatra distributed around 1.1 million barrels of fuel oil (BBM) during the momentum of Ramadan-Idul Fitri 1444 Hijri/2023 AD.

"Throughout April 2023, fuel lifting (distribution) for types of pertalite, diesel/bio solar, avtur and MFO Low Sulphur (ship fuel) was 1.1 million barrels, while LPG (LPG) was 10 thousand MTon," said Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR RU III Plaju - Sub Holding Refining & Petrochemical Pertamina, Siti Rachmi Indahsari quoting Antara.

According to him, during the momentum of Ramadan and this year's Eid holiday, his party continues to optimize in executing crude oil management in accordance with the existing refinery capacity, as well as increasing the secondary capacity of refineries and conversion of products as much as possible by managing and utilizing available stocks.

The Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr Task Force (RaFI Task Force) is trying their best to secure fuel supply and distribution, especially facing the backflow of Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri until the end of April 2023.

The processing at the Crude Distillate Unit (CDU) of the Pertamina Plaju Refinery has increased its capacity to 91.3 thousand Miles Barrels per Calendar Day (MBCD) from previously in the range of 85 MBCD.

The CDU is an important unit in an oil refinery that serves to separate crude mixtures into simpler components based on their boiling points.

Meanwhile, the production capacity of the HVU (Hydrocracker Vacuum Unit) Plaju Refinery is around 41.2 MBCD.

The HVU unit functions to break up large molecules in crude oil into smaller molecules with the help of hydrogen and high temperatures.

He explained that the Pertamina Plaju Refinery or PT Refinery Pertamina International Refinery Unit III Plaju is one of the refinery units of six refineries operated by PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional as part of Pertamina's Sub-Holding Refining & Petrochemicals.

The oil refinery, which operates in Palembang, South Sumatra, is one of the oldest refinery units in Indonesia that has been operating since 1904, contributing to meeting national energy needs, especially in Southern Sumatra (Sumbagsel).

The smooth and operational security of the Pertamina Plaju Refinery in the momentum of Ramadan and Eid 2023 cannot be separated from the full support of stakeholders, including elements of the government and local communities who continue to maintain conducive conditions during the Eid celebration.

"We ask for prayers and support from the entire community and stakeholders so that the refinery is always given safety and smooth operation, safe, reliable and always comply to regulation, in order to provide the best energy for the country," said Rachmi.
