SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government distributed 6,000 packages of rice aid from the Ministry of Social Affairs to residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eri Cahyadi said the assistance began to be distributed through the sub-district head which was then handed over to the head of the RT and the head of the village community empowerment institution (LPMK) to be distributed to affected residents in each region.
He explained that the assistance of 6,000 rice packages, each package containing 5 kilograms of rice and masks, was given to affected residents who had not received social assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs, both assist in the form of the Family Hope Program (PKH), Non-Cash Food Aid (BPNT)/Sembako Program, and Cash Social Assistance (BST).
"We distribute rice while there is rice. But this is not for those who have received assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs yesterday. Because it cannot be doubled", continued the Mayor of Surabaya.
Eri Cahyadi ensured that the assistance received by the Surabaya City Government was the right of the citizens of Surabaya. Therefore, the city government will continue to distribute aid from donors who have excess sustenance to people in need.
"We are entrusted by residents who have excessive sustenance, we distribute it back to people in need", he said.
According to him, the Surabaya City Government will record which residents have not received assistance from the government. So that they can receive assistance immediately. It also aims to avoid assisting residents who have previously received assistance.
