JAKARTA - The Civil Society Coalition complained to President Joko Widodo to the Indonesian Ombudsman regarding allegations of maladministration during the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). It is suspected that there has been a lot of fraud to win certain candidates.

"We consider that irregularities, violations, fraud and irregularities occur openly in order to win certain presidential candidates," the Civil Society Coalition was quoted as saying in a written statement posted on the Commission website for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (ContraS), Thursday, April 4.

The civil society coalition consists of 42 organizations and 11 individuals such as YLBHI, KontraS, PBHI, Imparsial, Lokataru Foundation, Alliance of Independent Journalists, Safenet, Walhi, HRWG, Greenpeace, Pusaka Bentala Rakyat, ELSAM, JATAM, LBH Jakarta, Trend Asia, Indonesia Corruption Watch, ICEL, Themis Indonesia, and KASBI. In his complaint, Jokowi is said to have committed maladministration in the form of deceitful practice.

"That is a practice of lies, not being honest with the public where people are treated to information that traps, information that is not actually for the benefit of bureaucrats," they said.

One form of disobedience was when Jokowi said that the president and ministers could take sides during the election. This statement was made on January 24 by referring to Article 299 of Law Number 7 of 2017.

"In fact, the provisions of the article should be seen in its entirety," said the coalition.

In addition, President Jokowi did not take time off during the campaign period. The Civil Society Coalition considers that the number one person in the country does not express support for certain candidates but its actions are the opposite.

The Civil Society Coalition considers President Jokowi to massively support the presidential and vice presidential candidates number two, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"The peak is during a dinner activity with one of the presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto at a restaurant in Central Jakarta on January 5, 2024," they said.

"Similar activities were carried out when the president returned to eat with Prabowo Subianto after inaugurating Graha Utama of the Military Academy of Magelang, Central Java on January 29. The series of actions were also included in the classification of favorites in interpreting the law," the group continued.

This coalition also assesses that various violations have been committed by Jokowi. Among them are allowing the practice of nepotism to allow his family, namely his eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka to run for Prabowo.

They highlighted the ethical violations that occurred at the Constitutional Court (MK) in the process. Thus, Jokowi's actions are considered as a form of nepotism as stated in Law Number 28 of 1999 concerning the Implementation of a State that is Clean and Free from Corruption, Collusion and Nepotism.

Thus, the Ombudsman is expected to be able to process this report. They were even asked to order corrective action against various frauds and violations during the 2024 presidential election.

"The 2024 election has been carried out very badly on the basis of acts of fraud, abuse of power and negligence committed by the President, causing constitutional losses to citizens in the form of tarnished rights to substantive justice in the form of direct, general, free, secret, honest, and fair elections," they concluded.
