The Tebing Tinggi Resort Police (Polres) arrested a man with the initials JK (35) who spread the video who allegedly claimed to be a "nabi" in Tebing Tinggi District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra.

"JK is suspected of claiming to be a prophet and conveying a narrative containing SARA or certain religions," said Tebing Tinggi Police Chief AKBP Andreas Tampubolon as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 20.

The perpetrators were residents who lived on Jalan Letda Sujono, Bulian Village, Bajanis District, Tebing Tinggi City.

"He was arrested by officers for committing a criminal act of Law Number 1 of 2024, the second amendment to Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning electronic transaction information," said the Police Chief.

In addition, officers also secured the pulpit, tripod, robe, paper containing the narration and android cellphone used by the perpetrators when making the video.

Andreas said this incident occurred on Tuesday (19/3) at around 15.00 WIB, the perpetrator uploaded a video containing his social media ethnicity, religion, race and intergroup (SARA) with the Prophet Jannes account.

"In the 1 minute 30 second video, it shows him at the Penonggol Village golf course, Tebing Tinggi District, Serdang Bedagai Regency," he said.

Furthermore, according to Andreas, the perpetrator read a piece of paper that smelled of SARA and contained elements of hatred.

The perpetrator's post received negative comments and received criticism from netizens, besides that it has also been shared by many people, making the community restless.

Following up on the community's unrest, Andreas said he arrested the perpetrator on the same day at the workshop, Jalan Belibis, which is not far from his residence.

"The motive of the perpetrators is still under further investigation by personnel," he said.
