KPK Appeals 5 Years In Dadan Tri Broker Prison In Supreme Court Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has filed an appeal against the five-year prison sentence of former Commissioner Wika Beton, Dadan Tri Yudianto in the case of case management at the Supreme Court (MA). The sentence, which was knocked out by the Panel of Judges at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, was deemed unfair.

"KPK Prosecutor Wahyu Dwi Oktafianto has finished declaring an appeal against Defendant Dadan Tri Yudianto," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Thursday, March 14.

Ali explained that the prosecutor's demands were deemed not accommodated. "As for the appeal points, including the criminal acts of the agency that have not fulfilled the sense of justice as requested by the prosecutor's team in their indictment," he said.

In the case of bribery in case management, Dadan was sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion. He was proven to have accepted bribes in handling cases in the Supreme Court.

The court also decided that Dadan was obliged to pay compensation of Rp7.95 billion. The money must be paid a month after the verdict is declared legally binding.

The verdict is much lower than the demands of the KPK prosecutor. Dadan was sentenced to 11.5 years in prison.

In addition, Dadan was also required to pay a replacement money of Rp7.95 billion. The money must be paid within a month.
