South Sulawesi Police Chief Instructs His Staff To Take Care Of Kamtibmas And Don't Be Careless During Ramadan

MAKASSAR - South Sulawesi Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) Inspector General of Police Andi Rian R Djajadi instructed the local police to maintain security and public order (kamtibmas) stability during Ramadan 1445 Hijri/2024 AD.

"We must guarantee and ensure that our brothers and sisters who fast, tarawih and carry out daily activities are safe and comfortable. I as the leader want people to get it while fasting," he explained during a briefing to the Jatanras Unit team and the Makassar Police Satreskrim Resmob, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, March 11.

He hopes that the team will work hard to bring comfort and peace by creating kamtibmas conditions so that Muslims can solemnly worship during the Holy month of Ramadan.

According to him, the situation and conditions must be different between normal days and fasting months, so it is necessary to take anticipatory steps to prevent violations or actions that can interfere with worship, such as the use of firecrackers that can have implications for many things.

The former South Kalimantan Police Chief also gave his appreciation to the Makassar Polrestabes and his staff who revealed criminal events, including the investigation of the perpetrators who deliberately injured innocent people.

"I thank the Makassar Polrestabes, especially friends of the Jatanras Satreskrim Unit, for being so responsive by immediately following up. We need to anticipate things like this, because I study the situation in South Sulawesi, this is related to bows ( arrow attacks), do not let it happen during Ramadan," he said.

The former Head of the Propam Division of the National Police Headquarters reminded the Head of the Polrestabes together with his staff to anticipate several areas prone to commotion or brawls between groups such as in the Kandea, Lembo, Tinumbu, Danko and Kerung-Kerung areas, because in several major events in Makassar it was actually just a trigger.

In addition, the Jatanras and Resmob unit teams are expected to create a conducive situation during Ramadan and respond quickly if there is a potential for criminal acts.

He also added that currently the weather changes are uncertain with the high rainfall in some areas, so flood anticipation and disaster mitigation are needed.

"The Jatanras and Resmob teams can certainly be relied on to participate in monitoring weather developments, for example in the early hours of the morning because they work at night when people sleep soundly, please inform me immediately, including to coordinate with relevant stakeholders," said Andi Rian.

In addition to the Jatanras Unit Headquarters and the Resmob Satreskrim Polrestabes Makassar, the South Sulawesi Police Chief also gave directions to the ranks of the Jatanras and Resmob units of the South Sulawesi Police Direskrimum regarding the security and disturbances of Kamtibmas during Ramadan 1445 Hijriah.

"I deliberately came and wanted to remind all of us. Janaras and Resmob are the dignity of the detective, the spirit of the crirum. In Makassar, there are many hotspots (occurrences) that occur. If they are not managed properly, this will become viral and public attention," he said.
