JAKARTA - The fire at Harapan Bunda Hospital, East Jakarta, on Thursday, March 7, was tense at night. The black smoke on the 4th floor continued to thicken, making it difficult for firefighters to extinguish it.

"We can even breathe, if we don't wear masks. We have permission to go to the hospital to break the dead glass (not functioning) for ventilation (air circulation). (glass) Break everything along the corridor to the outside so that smoke can come out," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman when confirmed, Thursday, March 7, evening.

After the glass along the 4th floor corridor was broken by firefighters, a puff of smoke that blocked the officer's visibility finally gradually got out of the burning building.

"Alhamdulillah, smoke can fall properly, so we immediately searched for it to the server room and found that there was a hotspot still burning," he said.

Officers had extinguished using APAR but it didn't work. The officers finally extinguished it by spraying water.

"We extinguish it with water with a series from below to above. The fire is not so big, but the flammable materials that can produce quite thick smoke," he explained.

Moreover, the object caught fire was in a closed area inside the building. So that the smoke continued to billow thick and enter a number of other rooms.

"The name is a closed room, a little smoke has gone everywhere, entering another room. But the puff of smoke is only on the 4th floor," he said.

The fire at Harapan Bunda Ciracas Hospital, East Jakarta, started with the server room on the 4th floor. At 21.59 WIB, officers were still extinguishing it.

Luckily, as a result of the fire there were no patients who became victims. A number of patients were successfully evacuated during the fire.
