The panel of judges at the Medan District Court sentenced the defendant Teguh Andriansyah to 20 years in prison in a case as a courier for narcotics of the type of methamphetamine weighing two kilograms.

"In addition, the defendants Salim alias Alim and Reza Hanafi were sentenced to 16 years, each of the three defendants was fined Rp1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said Chief Judge Sarma Siregar at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 6.

The panel of judges stated that the three defendants were proven and guilty of violating Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics junto Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code, namely being an intermediary in buying and selling, exchanging or delivering narcotics class I in the form of non-shabu-type plants exceeding five grams, namely two kilograms.

While the aggravating thing is that the three defendants did not support the government's program in eradicating drugs and Teguh Ardiansyah was a prisoner. While the mitigating thing is that they regret their actions.

"Both the defendant, the defendant's legal adviser and the public prosecutor, are given a period of thinking for seven days to accept or appeal against the decision," said Sarma.

The verdict against the defendant Teguh Andriansyah was two years heavier than the demands of the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, Tiorida Hutagaol, for 18 years, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months, while the defendant Salim was sentenced to 18 years in prison, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to eight months, and the defendant Reza Hanafi, for 18 years, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison.

In the indictment revealed, on October 28, 2023, officers from the Directorate of Investigation of the Narcotics Directorate of the North Sumatra Police received information about the circulation of methamphetamine in the Asahan Regency area.

Then the officers made a covert purchase by extorting two kilograms from Salim and Reza in Asahan by showing Rp580 million.

Salim and Reza were arrested along with evidence by North Sumatra Police officers. The results of the interrogation showed that the methamphetamine belonged to Teguh Andriansyah who was in prison.

Furthermore, on October 29, 2023, officers picked up the defendant Teguh. From the results of the interrogation, Dodi's package was ordered by Dodi from Malaysia. From the sale, Rp40 million will be given later.
