Jokowi Proud Later Indonesia Will Have A Presidential Palace Made By State Children

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said the construction of the Presidential Palace in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) was because the Indonesian people wanted to have a Presidential Palace building which was not a colonial heritage.

"Indeed, we want to have the President's building which is not a legacy from colonialism. We built it ourselves with our own products, carried out by the nation's own children and this will create pride, self-esteem," said President Joko Widodo at IKN, East Kalimantan, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 1.

This was conveyed by the President in his remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Health Social Security Administration (BPJS) building at IKN, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, Friday.

Jokowi said that often when he received guests from leaders of other countries at the Presidential Palace, the leaders of other countries praised the good thing about the Palace building owned by Indonesia.

However, the President could not say anything because the current building of the Jakarta Presidential Palace is a relic of the Dutch colonial.

"(The palace) in Bogor is the same, in Yogya it is the same, in Cipanas it is the same," he explained.

The President emphasized that the construction of the Presidential Palace at IKN is carried out so that the Indonesian nation has pride in its own abilities that are private in culture.

On that occasion, the President also invited people who came to IKN to try to see IKN from the highest place, namely at the location of the Presidential Palace Building in IKN, to see the current transformation of IKN development.

"Maybe those who have never been to IKN, please look at the Palace, what will this IKN look like in the future, what kind of transformation will happen. It will be seen if you go up to the highest place, at the Palace," said the President.

The President admitted that he did not know whether people could come to the construction site at the Presidential Palace or not, but he advised the public to try to see the IKN development more clearly.

"I don't know if it's okay or not, but if I may, I think everyone should look from there. I've been there a lot, if I'm allowed, but not necessarily you can. But my advice is to try there, it will be visible," said Jokowi.
