Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Bahtiar Bahharuddin, explained the regional development plan in front of President Joko Widodo, and a number of Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, at the State Palace, Jakarta.

Acting Governor Bahtiar, said the meeting with President Jokowi and a number of ministers focused on discussing the Makassar development concept plan and the Mamminasata area, whose planning had been started since 2011.

"Today we add Pangkep, Makassar and its surroundings to be connected from the mainland and there is also a connection from the sea side, because there is also a Maros Pangkep Geopark," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 27.

The Acting Governor of South Sulawesi at the meeting was accompanied by the Head of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Pangdam Hasanuddin, Pangkoopsud II, Kajati Sulsel, Mayor of Makassar, Regent of Gowa, Acting Regent of Takalar, Regent of Maros and Regent of Pangkep.

Bahtiar revealed that President Jokowi asked himself along with five regional heads and the South Sulawesi Forkopimda to build the Makassar City area and its surroundings.

"In order to become a comfortable, healthy city, then the ecosystem is built, both its economic system, social system including business, and Makassar are the gates of Eastern Indonesia which are the centers of trade for Eastern Indonesia and the support for IKN in the future.

He said the food ingredients to be sent to IKN were from Makassar. Therefore, the Makassar area and its surroundings must be integrated with adequate transportation networks, rail transportation, and toll transportation, as well as Makassar ring roads so that congestion does not occur.

"Because the closest potential for agriculture, the largest is livestock, the closest to IKN is Makassar. So when IKN operates, the ones who enjoy the most are Makassar and its surroundings, South Sulawesi Province," said Bahtiar.

The Acting Governor of South Sulawesi also expressed his gratitude on behalf of the community, the Provincial Government of South Sulawesi, on behalf of the regional government and friends of state administration who served in South Sulawesi, TNI, Polri and the Prosecutor's Office.

He also thanked President Jokowi for realizing the dream of the people of South Sulawesi to own a stadium. This year a soccer stadium will be built in Makassar.
