Ministry Of Health: 94 Election Officers Died As Of February 20

A total of 94 election officers who are members of several groups, such as the Vote Organizing Group (KPPS), Community Protection (Linmas), and witnesses, died as of February 20, 2024.

Data from the Ministry of Health received in Jakarta on Wednesday shows that the death toll has been calculated since February 10, including 51 members of the KPPS, 18 members of Linmas, nine witnesses, eight officers, six members of the Election Supervisory Body, and two members of the Voting Committee.

The highest causes of death were heart disease (24), followed by accidents (9), hypertension (9), and acute respiratory problems (7).

In addition, serebrovascular disease (6), septic shock (5), diabetes mellitus (4), sudden heart death (2), multiorgan failure (2). The others are shortness of breath, pulmonary TB, chronic kidney disease, dehydration, and asthma, each with one incident.

The cause of death of 21 people is still being confirmed.

According to the age range, four people who died were over 60 years old, 29 were 51-60 years old, 28 were 41-50 years old, 16 were 31-40 years old, 13 were 21-30 years old, and four were 17-20 years old.

Meanwhile, according to the distribution, the areas with the highest deaths were West Java (24), then East Java (19), and Central Java (15), and DKI Jakarta (9).

Then South Sulawesi (6), Banten (5). In North Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, in each of these provinces there were two who died.

Meanwhile, in Aceh, West Sumatra, Lampung, DI Yogyakarta, Central Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan, one person each province died.

The Ministry of Health also stated that 13,675 election officers were being treated, with the most groups, namely KPPS as many as 6,963 people, 1,676 officers, and PPS as many as 1,583 people.

Then witnesses 1,247, members of Linmas 1,095 people, members of Bawaslu 659 people, and the District Election Committee (PPK) 452 people.

The most patients from the age group are 21-30 years, namely 3,871 people, 41-50 years, 3,409 people, 31-40 years as many as 3,170 people, 51-60 years as many as 1,980 people, 17-20 years as many as 835 people, and over 60 years as many as 410 people.

The patients were treated for various diseases, including a disease in the stomach, stomach, and intestines of 12 fingers; hypertension; acute upper respiratory tract infection; soft tissue disorder; pneumonia, intestinal infection, and internal ear disease.

Head of the Communication and Public Service Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that on Thursday (15/2), about 15 percent of KPPS officers (Prone Organizer Group) were over 55 years old.

"There are still around 15 percent of officers who are over 55 years old because there are indeed limited ones who wish to become officers. In addition, there are still those who have comorbid diseases, but they are not controlled," said Nadia.

In addition, BPJS Kesehatan President Director Ali Ghufron Mukti on Monday (19/2) said that 63 percent of the 398,155 KPPS members who have health risks, or around 250 thousand people, have hypertension.

As for the group of people with this risk, as many as 26 percent have problem withTORic heart disease, 8 percent have chronic kidney failure, and 3 percent have diabetes mellitus.
