JABAR - The Cianjur Regency Government (Pemkab) has extended the waste emergency period until February 9, 2024.

Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman said the reason was because the progress of the construction of the entrance and exit road to the Mekarsari Final Waste Disposal Site (TPSA) in Cikalongkulong District had not been completed.

"The pavement of the replacement TPSA entrance is still muddy due to the rainy weather that falls every day, making the soil muddy again so that it is difficult to harden," said Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman in Cianjur, West Java, Tuesday, February 6, as reported by Antara.

He said the hardening process was carried out continuously for 24 hours in the hope that it would be completed soon, so that the waste disposal to the new TPSA from the Pasirsembung TPSA could run, because the existence of the old TPSA had changed its function to a Green Open Space.

As for the facilities and infrastructure to support waste disposal to the new TPSA, his party has proposed the procurement of several dump trucks to the Indonesian Ministry of Environment (KLH) because the trucks currently owned are no longer suitable for roads but are still forced.

"We also budgeted for the Unexpected Cost (BTT) 2024 for the purchase of a cash collection machine that will be placed in a number of markets in Cianjur, in order to reduce the tonnage of waste that enters the new TPSA," he said.

In fact, to reduce the amount of waste that enters the TPSA every day from the community in Cianjur, his party has pushed back the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (TPS3R) Waste Processing Site program, which amounts to 32 TPS2R in all Cianjur areas.

"We also encourage the number of TPS3R to continue to grow, so that Cianjur will not experience a waste emergency status because TPSA has exceeded capacity, especially from processing independently in all lines, it can become economic-valued goods," he said.

As reported, the Cianjur Regency Government has declared a waste emergency status for the next 14 days because the Pasirsembung TPSA has exceeded capacity and changed its function to Green Open Space (RTH) while waiting for the new TPSA.
