JAKARTA - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said his party agreed to provide drones for Egypt, along with efforts to normalize diplomatic relations between the two countries after a decade of dispute.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to travel to Egypt on February 14 to meet Turkish President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, his first visit since Ankara and Cairo stepped up diplomatic relations by appointing ambassadors last year.

Foreign Minister Fidan told private television A Haber that the Turkish leader would discuss bilateral and regional issues including trade, energy and security with El-Sisi President.

"Normalization in our relationship is important for Egypt to have certain technologies. We have an agreement to provide unmanned aerial vehicles (Egypt) and other technologies," Foreign Minister Fidan explained without elaborate.

It is known that international demand for Turkish-made drones has soared after its influence on the conflict in Syria, Libya, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine.

Ethiopia, which has a cold relationship with Egypt regarding a hydroelectric dam in the Blue Nile, is among the buyers of Turkish drones.

In addition to the famous Bayraktar TB-2 combat drone, Turkey has a variety of other drones. Most recently, two military drones that are in the process of developing and testing Bayraktar TB-3 successfully passed the test of flight resistance, as well as the Anka-3 stealth drone that successfully made the first flight.
