Satpol PP Members Make Content Support Gibran Reported By TPD Ganjar To West Java Bawaslu

BANDUNG - Members of the Satpol PP in Garut who are suspected of not being neutral because they support one of the vice presidential candidates through video content, was reported to West Java Bawaslu.

This was reported by a member of the Regional Winning Team (TPD) Ganjar-Mahfud West Java, Rafael Situmorang, who said that the action of the Satpol PP members tarnished the neutrality of ASN in the 2024 General Election.

"This is a violation that must be taken immediately by the West Java Bawaslu. Today's report has been received," said Rafael at the West Java Bawaslu as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.

Rafael said that the follow-up to the report was reviewed by the West Java Bawaslu for the next three to four days.

"Later we will come here to find out what their actions are like, whether they have studied internally. We want to know what their opinions are like, whether there are allegations of violations of the Election Law or the ASN law, because we think it is clear to both of them," he said.

Rafael hopes that the report will be followed up and there must be strict sanctions against individuals who tarnish the neutrality of ASN.

"ASN must be neutral, Bawaslu has an obligation to maintain and prevent violations. So that this does not happen again and there is a deterrent effect," said Rafael.

Previously, a 19-second video showing a group of Satpol PP members in Garut who supported the vice presidential candidate number 2, went viral on social media.

In the 19-second video, 13 members of the Garut Satpol PP can be seen conveying the narrative that Indonesia needs young leaders in the future.

Their narrative is led by one person. The video explains that they come from the Civil Service Police Assistance Communication Forum, Garut Regency.

Other members then followed the narrative that was conveyed at the end of the sentence, then they raised a photo of the vice presidential candidate number two, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

It is known that ASN, TNI, Polri including Satpol PP officers must be neutral in elections.

This is regulated in Law No. 5 of 2014 concerning State Civil Apparatus, which reads: One of the principles of implementing ASN policies and management is "neutrality".

This principle of neutrality means that every ASN employee does not take sides with any form of influence and does not side with anyone's interests.

In addition, the rules for civil servants are also prohibited from providing support or carrying out activities that lead to practical politics in the Pilkada/Pileg/Pilpres contestation as stated in Government Regulation no. 53 of 2010 concerning Civil Servant Discipline and Government Regulation no. 42 of 2004 Corps Mental Development and Civil Servant Code of Ethics.
