JAKARTA - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) revealed that throughout 2023 in Indonesia there were no violent terror attacks that carried out terrorist networks.

"Throughout 2023, Alhamdulillah, there have been no terror attacks with violence by terrorist networks compared to previous years, this condition indicates that Indonesia's security situation is getting better," said Head of BNPT RI Komjen Pol. Mohammed Rycko Amelza Dahniel at the BNPT Office, Sentul, Bogor Regency, West Java, Friday.

According to him, the absence of cases of terrorism attacks this year is a positive impact of the synergy between the government and the community in preventing terrorism, thus creating a better Indonesian security situation.

He explained that BNPT as the leading sector for countering terrorism in Indonesia is committed to fighting the development of terrorism understanding and actions according to the mandate of Law Number 5 of 2018 through increasing public awareness, community involvement, and encouraging collaboration of all components of the nation in order to build public resilience.

BNPT RI also continues to urge all parties to remain vigilant with the dynamics of movements that appear below the surface of terror network cells that are still trying to infiltrate into various sectors of life.

"We must not be complacent so that we are careless. We must remain vigilant because all of these conditions appear above the surface," he said.

Rycko said that global terrorist networks are also still carrying out acts of terrorism and domestic terrorist networks are observed to be actively developing networks through various activities that can be known through the number of terrorist arrests by the National Police's Detachment 88 AT assisted by the TNI as many as 148 terrorists.

"Under the surface of massive and planned terror network cells continue to infiltrate the joints of social and state life," said Rycko.
