Abbreviation In Foreign Languages When Debate Becomes KPU Evaluation Material

The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia will hold an evaluation meeting for the implementation of the second presidential election (Pilpres) 2024 on Wednesday, December 27.

"Tomorrow (the debate meeting), God willing, yes," said Hasyim at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 26.

Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy'ari revealed that the debate evaluation meeting will discuss various things that include complaints to notes from the team of candidate pairs or presidential and vice presidential candidates who collide with ideas.

"There will be an evaluation meeting later. Anything that becomes a complaint, notes of each candidate, candidate pair, and team of candidate pairs will be discussed in an evaluation meeting," he said.

He does not deny that there are other candidate pairs who question the abbreviation question in the evaluation meeting.

In addition, Hasyim added that the evaluation meeting also discussed the use of microphones, candidates appearing not on the podium, as well as the role of moderators in debate, abbreviation, to foreign languages.

"Yes, everything will definitely be evaluated, whether the mic, whether it appears not on the podium, whether the role of moderators, abbreviations, foreign languages, and so on, we will evaluate everything later," said Hasyim.

To note, the term State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) has become a public discussion in recent times, after appearing in a debate for vice president candidates held by the General Elections Commission (KPU), Friday (22/12).

In the debate that took place at the Senayan Jakarta Convention Center, the vice presidential candidate number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka questioned the term SGIE. However, he did not get an answer from the candidate for vice president number 3 Muhaimin Iskandar.

Deputy for Politics 5.0 of the National Winning Team (TPN) Ganjar-Mahfud, Andi Widjajanto, participated in defending Cak Imin. According to him, the debate moderator should ask Gibran as the party who asked to explain the abbreviation.

This is so that the time given during the debate is not wasted. In addition, so that people who watch the debate can understand the substance of the world's halal economic question.

Meanwhile, the Expert Council of TKN Prabowo-Gibran, Ferry Latuhihin, emphasized that the question asked by Gibran during the debate was not a question of a trap.

The question about SGIE was actually appropriate to ask Cak Imin. Because, he is the leader of the PKB party with Islamic ideology.

The KPU has received registrations for three presidential-cawapres candidates, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The election campaign period is set from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, while the voting is scheduled for February 14, 2024.
