Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo emphasized that the Draft Law (RUU) on Asset Confiscation must be ratified immediately.

"The Asset Confiscation Bill must be ratified immediately, because that is the demand of the community," said Ganjar after attending the 74th Anniversary of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) at Grha Sabha Pramana Building, Yogyakarta, Tuesday 19 December.

However, Ganjar said that preventing corruption is important, one of which is through anti-corruption education.

"Because it is not just an action, but also all of them. Prevention is much more important as well. That is why anti-corruption education is important from an early age," said Ganjar.

He then shared his experience while serving as governor of Central Java for the 2013-2018 and 2018-2023 periods in terms of preventing corruption in the regions.

"We (Central Java Provincial Government) are collaborating with the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) to invite regents, mayors, to sign an anti-corruption education commitment agreement early on, even since early childhood education). I think it is much more important, because it is a long-term investment, forming character and changing behavior to prevent things that are bad in nature," he said.

Previously, during the first debate of the 2024 presidential candidate in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 12, Ganjar was committed to finalizing the Bill on Asset Confiscation and dragging corruptors to Nusakambangan.

According to him, leaders of a great nation must show anti-corruption practices seriously so that officials and society get good role models.

"First, from the law enforcement side first. So, if I start from here, what must be done is to impoverish (corruptors). Second, confiscation of assets, then we immediately clean up the Asset Confiscation Law and for officials who are corrupt are brought to Nusakambangan so that they can have a deterrent effect that this is not a joke," said Ganjar during a debate at the General Elections Commission (KPU) Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 19.
