Ahead Of Christmas 2023, Polairud Increases Port Security To Prevent Alcohol From Entering North Maluku

The Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the North Maluku Police (Malut) has assigned personnel at the port to increase security and anticipate the entry of various types of liquor or alcohol in their area ahead of Christmas and New Year's 2024.

"Towards the Christmas and New Year 2024 celebrations, all officers were deployed at the entrance of Ternate and other areas in North Maluku to provide comfort to the community, especially users of sea transportation services," said Director of Polairud Polda Malut Kombes Pol. Mugi S. Jaya in Ternate, Tuesday.

He said this security would be focused on preventing efforts to smuggle liquor and various prohibited items, including in all ports in the North Maluku region.

Thus, with the placement of personnel in various ports that are the entrance to and from North Maluku, in addition to providing comfort for passengers, it also prevents the entry of alcohol circulation.

In line with that, the Dit Polairud together with the Intermediate Type of Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office held joint patrols to create comfort and safety for shipping activities in the area.

This joint patrol will be carried out more often in the future in the context of supervision in North Maluku waters, because Customs and Excise has a special task, namely securing state revenue from the income sector or spending goods from within the country abroad.

He acknowledged that Polairud's surveillance area is wider with quite a lot of resources.

"However, as law enforcement officers, all of them have the same interests to create a peaceful orderly region to enforce all laws and regulations in force in this country," he said.

He stated that this activity was to monitor the situation and conditions in the field, especially the waters of the city of Ternate by involving Customs personnel and Polairud members.
