JAKARTA - Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo said 25 new radars were ready to be placed at several points in order to strengthen the resilience of airspace in Indonesia. "In the future there will be procurement plans as many as 13, plus 12, so 25 new radars," said Fadjar in a talk with editor-in-chief at TNI AU Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Antara, Monday, December 5. According to him, the current radar still has not covered all of Indonesia's airspace. He said that the radars would be imported from Western Europe, with some replacing the old radar and the rest placed at new points. "Although of the 25 radars, it is still lacking. However, we prioritize areas that need to be given and strengthened by the air environment," he said. The main priorities are areas where air violations often occur and areas that are often passed by air traffic. He also explained the importance of radar for Indonesia's defense and security. Fadjar called the war that occurred in Ukraine a clear example of the importance of radar. "For example, Ukraine survived the Russian attack because a country of that size has a radar of 200. And they do have a strong air defense system, the evidence is still strong enough," he said. Furthermore, Fadjar said he would continue to apply for other radars so that the airspace in Indonesia has strong security.

"In the future, several other radars will be submitted for their redundants to back up the ones that will be held later," he concluded.
