JAKARTA - The Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) revealed that 102 containers of goods sent by Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) were stuck at two ports due to the implementation of provisions regarding the import and export of shipped goods.
Head of BP2MI Benny Rhamdani said that based on data information, 67 containers containing PMI shipments were stuck at Tanjung Perak Port and 35 containers at Tanjung Emas Port.
"Meanwhile in Tanjung Priok there are zero. The total is 102 containers," he said as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 30.
He said that all goods sent by PMI, both new and used, were sent for family needs, consumptive needs, and not for sale and purchase.
BP2MI urges the relevant ministries/institutions to immediately finalize the revision of Minister of Trade Regulation Number 25 of 2022 which regulates the relaxation of PMI consignments, both new and used goods.
Benny also asked the relevant ministries and institutions to speed up the customs process for goods sent by PMI at the two ports in accordance with the provisions
"So that the goods sent by PMI in the temporary storage warehouse do not get damaged quickly and do not increase high costs for the courier service company," he continued.
