Ganjar Will Make Taxpayers Easier To Increase State Revenue

JAKARTA - President Ganjar Pranowo's candidate expressed a strategy to increase state revenue from the tax sector. One of the steps he will take is to simplify the tax payment process for taxpayers.

Ganjar spoke at the Indonesia Investment Summit 2023 at the Mandarin Orental Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 24. According to him, currently the tax ratio in the country is still at a low level. To increase this, Ganjar emphasized the importance of providing convenience to taxpayers when they were about to pay their obligations.

"So this is something that I think today is a common concern, it can't be scary for taxpayers, people who want to pay taxes are sometimes difficult, afraid and everything becomes complicated, why don't we make it easy," said Ganjar.

Ganjar also highlighted the need for the government not to use intimidation against taxpayers. He suggested that the President should form a special panel that will oversee state revenues.

"If we talk about income from taxes, it must be easier, and our tax ratio is still too weak," said Ganjar.

Meanwhile, Ganjar also emphasized the importance of potential income from the business sector, both from State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), national companies, and foreign companies. He emphasized that the main key is to control illegal activities, prioritize anti-corruption values, and increase integrity.

"BUMN and so on, then the illegal ones are legalized in a sense of being brought under control. So that one, the anti-corruption value must be high, integrity must be high, the legal approach must be high so that if it is done it feels possible," said Ganjar.

With efforts to simplify tax payments and control illegal activities, Ganjar hopes to provide a significant boost to increasing state revenues in the future.
