PeKANBARU - Head of the Riau Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Edy Afrizal said on Monday (9/10) officers had seeded 500 kilograms of salt in the sky of Siak Regency and Pelalawan Regency through Weather Modification Technology (TMC) or artificial rain programs.

"A total of 500 kilograms of salt Sprinkled in the clouds have the potential to rain in the two areas, this activity is carried out by Smart Cakrawala Aviation, using a Pillatus PC-6 aircraft," said Edy Afrizal as quoted by ANTARA, Monday., October 9th.

The supervisor who carried out the artificial rain was the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

"Previously, on Sunday (8/10) in Pelalawan Regency, it was also TMC's target. Then artificial rain was also carried out in Siak and Bengkalis," he said.

The total amount of salt sprinkled in the three areas is 1,000 kg. TMC depends on clouds with the potential for rain so that before carrying out the mission, it is necessary to observe the weather first.

Forecaster On Duty The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Pekanbaru Bibin Station predicts the weather today in the Riau region at night, Monday (9/10) October 2023 has the potential to rain with light intensity occurring in parts of Rokan Hulu, Kampar, Siak, Rohil, Bengkalis, and Dumai Regencies.

"In the early morning there is the potential for light rain to occur in parts of Rokan Hilir, Rokan Hulu, Kampar, Kuantan Singingi, Meranti and Bengkalis regencies," said Bibin.

Meanwhile, the forecast for wave heights in Riau Province waters ranges from 0.50 1.25 m (low). It was recorded that 220 hotspots in Riau Province, which are spread across Indragiri Hulu Regency as many as 182 points, Indragiri Hilir Regency 15 points, Kuantan Singingi Regency 9 points, Pelalawan Regency 8 points, Kampar 2, Bengkalis two, Meranti and Siak, one point each.

Meanwhile, the air temperature in Riau reached 23.0 33.0 C, humidity 50 98 percent, southeast-west wind direction 09-27 km/hour.
