TNI Deploys 11 Task Forces To Secure ASEAN 43rd Summit In Jakarta

A total of 11 task forces were deployed by the TNI to maintain a series of Summits for the 43rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta on September 5, 2023.

The Commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Pangkogabwilhan) I Vice Admiral (Laksdya) TNI Erwin S. Aldedharma conveyed that the task force deployed included the VVIP Security and Regional Security Task Force, Air Task Force/Air Defense, Special Security Task Force.

Then the Information Task Force, Medical Task Force, Intelligence Task Force, Marine Task Force, Airport and Port Security Task Force, Communication and Electronics Task Force, Evacuation Task Force, and Cyber Task Force.

"The ASEAN Summit has been implemented. So I am sure that all officers can carry out this task well and then coordination cooperation is needed," said TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono during a meeting with Pangkogabwilhan I, reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 18. Yudo said that he reflected on the security of the ASEAN 42nd Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, on May 9, 2023.

Kogabwilhan I in the ASEAN Summit security series in Jakarta became the VVIP Integrated Security Command (Kogabpadpam) responsible for securing VVIP guests, namely the presidents/heads of state, vice presidents, and state guests at the level of head of state/head of government.

Indonesia, which this year holds the leadership of ASEAN, again held a summit (KTT) with member countries and partner countries (ASEAN-Plus) in Jakarta.

For the 43rd ASEAN Summit, Indonesia will continue to discuss strengthening organizational institutions in order to be able to answer challenges for the next 20 years.

"We want to lay the foundation for future ASEAN cooperation. To achieve that, we have to strengthen institutions and various work mechanisms," said Director General of ASEAN Cooperation at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sidharto Suryodipuro during a press conference in Jakarta on August 11, 2023.

Sidharto said there are several aspects that want to be strengthened, including increasing the human resources of the ASEAN community, increasing dialogue about human rights and maritime cooperation between member countries.

He noted that Indonesia always produces an agreement or commonly called the ASEAN Concord at every chairman in ASEAN. Indonesia previously acted as chairman in 1976, 2003, 2011.
