JAKARTA - Seven members of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) for the 2022-2027 period will immediately study all plans for the 2024 General Election which were previously prepared by the KPU for the 2017-2022 period.

This was stated by the member of the 2022-2027 KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, shortly after the new KPU was inaugurated by Jokowi at the State Palace.

"We will immediately conduct an internal consolidation to study what has been prepared by the KPU in the previous period", said Hasyim as seen on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube video, Tuesday, April 12.

Hasyim said that the 2024 election voting will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Meanwhile, the election process is planned to start on June 14, 2022.

Seeing the stages starting just two months from now, Hasyim admitted that his party will speed up the preparations for the implementation, starting from internal consolidation; discussion of the meeting regarding the stages, schedule, program, and budget for the 2024 General Election; to the preparation of several KPU regulations.

The 2022-2027 KPU will start the discussion by attending a hearing (RDP) at the Indonesian Parliament building with House of Representatives Commission II, the government, and other election organizers on Wednesday, April 13 tomorrow. Therefore, Hasyim hopes that KPU regulations regarding elections can be drafted soon.

"Hopefully soon we can stipulate KPU regulations regarding the 2024 election stages to ensure that the 2024 elections will run according to the predetermined schedule", said Hasyim.

For information, the seven KPU commissioners appointed by Jokowi today are Betty Epsilon Idrus, Hasyim Asy'ari, Mochammad Afifudin, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik, and August Mellaz.

Those whose names have been sworn in have already been chosen by the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission II and tapped at a plenary meeting before their names are sent to President Jokowi's desk.
