JAKARTA – Assistance for the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia continues to arrive from several friendly countries. Recently, the South Korean government sent assistance to the Indonesian government for 350 oxygen concentrators and 35 ventilators for handling COVID-19.

"No single country can overcome this COVID-19 pandemic alone", said South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Park Tae-sung in a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday, July 18.

According to the plan, the assistance will be brought in gradually. As many as 200 units of oxygen concentrators that have arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport on Sunday, July 18 are the first phase of assistance. Meanwhile, the rest of the aid is planned to arrive in Indonesia in the near future.

According to Park Tae-Sung, this COVID-19 situation should be dealt with by building international solidarity and cooperation. Park is committed that South Korea, which is a special strategic partner for Indonesia, will always fight with Indonesia to end COVID-19.

It is hoped that through this assistance, South Korea will at least contribute to securing the number of oxygen concentrators in Indonesia.

The South Korean government will continue to work closely with the Indonesian government to jointly deal with COVID-19 in Indonesia, including providing other humanitarian assistance.

This year, the South Korean government has disbursed USD 4 million or approximately IDR 57 billion to assist the Indonesian government as a form of cooperation in increasing the capacity to tackle COVID-19.

These cooperation programs include providing PCR test equipment and antigen test kits to increase testing capacity, implementing programs to increase health personnel resources, as well as providing assistance to overcome the spread of COVID-19 in remote areas, including the outer islands.
