More Than Half Of Indonesian People Never Change Their Account Password

JAKARTA - Even if you have used an anti-virus or other sophisticated security solution, no one can guarantee 100 percent the security of your own personal data when surfing the internet.

However, many security experts recommend changing account passwords regularly, as a way to prevent intruders or hackers from stealing your personal data.

But unfortunately, there are still many people, especially the Indonesian people, who still ignore the importance of changing passwords regularly.

This fact is proven by the results of a survey by the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) which revealed that more than half (66.82 percent) of internet users in Indonesia have never changed their passwords.

In addition, 10.44 percent of Indonesians who use the internet admit to changing their passwords at least once a year. Another 7.52 percent change passwords once in six months.

On the other hand, as many as 5.97 percent of Indonesians change their account passwords once a month, 5.62 percent change their passwords once every three months, and 3.64 percent say they change their passwords every two months.

Furthermore, as many as 32.71 percent of the public admitted that if they change their password frequently, they will often forget it. Meanwhile, another 31.04 percent said there was no intention to change the password.

Tragically, the survey also found that 18.68 percent of Indonesians said that changing their password was not important, and 17.57 percent said they did not know how to change it.
